What research says about second reads
Two published studies behind the way our reports are written. They describe radiology in general, not Alpine's own results.
2 in 3
A meta-analysis of 29 studies with 12'676 second interpretations found no discrepancy in about two thirds of cases; 18.6% of second reads changed the patient's management. Rates vary by body region and examination.
Rosenkrantz et al., Journal of the American College of Radiology, 2018 ↗4%
Of 97'052 radiology reports from a large US health system, only 4.2% were written at or below the reading level of an average adult. Every Alpine report therefore includes a plain-language summary.
Martin-Carreras et al., Clinical Imaging, 2019 ↗What we do not do
- We do not perform scans and run no imaging equipment.
- We do not treat patients or operate, and we have no financial interest in where you are treated next.
- We do not bill health insurers directly; you receive an invoice you can submit yourself.
- We do not use artificial intelligence for diagnosis.
